May Speech Therapy Plans
Since it is our last month of school, I typically start incorporating a summer theme into my speech therapy plans during May. How about you? It’s a crazy month with all the end of school activities, so you just have to roll with the punches! I do love sending home a Mother’s Day activity as a last take-home gift! This post contains Amazon affiliate links for books if you choose to add to your personal library. Download this free monthly planner at the bottom of this post!
Also, don’t forget it is BHSM! Make sure you download these FREE vocal hygiene water bottle hangers! They are fun to hand out to staff and students!
A great book to transition from spring to summer is Over and Under The Pond by Kate Messner. I’ve shared her books before. Like the others, this book offers something for a vast age range. The illustrations and text are rich but not too complex for younger students. I love it for the vocabulary and compare/contrast opportunities.
For articulation and language students, the Flamingo Popper Companion is always a fun, engaging activity!
As I said above, Mother’s Day Lap Book is ALWAYS well-received. I created this to work on expressive language, and sequencing steps of a task (putting the lap book together- these skills transfer to a classroom!). It has options for aunt, grandmother as well! A fun book for this week is The Pout Pout Fish In The Big Big Dark paired with the Flip Flop craft for articulation!
Camping Theme!!! I noticed Target has an entire end cap for making s’mores! This would be a fun “end of the year” activity! The book, A Camping Spree With Mr. Magee is a huge FAVORITE of mine! It is perfect to pair with the S’mores Dice and Dot for Articulation and Language goals! You can make s’mores then focus on written expression and sequencing steps with this writing unit!
Ocean fun for speech plans this week of May! The books, Commotion In The Ocean and Clark The Shark are always my go-to! We get out the Shark Popper Companion for articulation and language goals! I use this huge set of plastic ocean animals and the Target Dollar Spot has a fun shark inflatable that would be so engaging for kids!
Have a beach-themed week in speech! Grab some sand from Michael’s, Hobby Lobby or Home Depot for a fun sensory bin. The Sandcastle Contest and Harry By The Sea are both perfect and absolutely adorable! I use my Summer Dice and Dot For Articulation and Language students!
I sure hope you are loving these monthly speech therapy planning calendars! There are spaces for you to add your own therapy plans and to-do list! I had fun putting together this one for the month of May! I’d love for you to pin the image above to share with other SLPs on Pinterest for me! Then be sure to download your calendar below!
