June Lesson Plans for Speech Therapy
I know many of you are still in school in June or you simply work with your speech students year round. I feel like summer therapy for me is always a little more flexible and relaxed. I’ve gathered my favorite themed speech therapy plans for June and thought I’d share them free for you to download. The weekly calendar format allows you to add some of your own ideas and notes to each week. If you like this template but want to edit and create your own, you can check out this Editable Lesson Plan Template in my TpT store. June speech plans:
Literacy-based integration with the adorable book, Down To The Sea With Mr. Magee. One of my favorite children’s book authors, Chris Van Dusen has this fun summer themed book. For articulation, increase those reps with incorporating the Summer Quick-Play games!
Summer writing prompts are my FAVORITE! Kids really get into these creative, imaginative topics so it’s never a hassle to get them writing each day. We work on all aspects of language (sequencing, predicting, grammar, conventions of language, narratives, and more) with these then write for that day. They take the journal home with them to continue daily writing. I use these each week…and all summer long.
BEACH THEME! Grab your favorite beach theme books – I love Pete The Cat At The Beach! Have you downloaded the Beach Ball Craft yet? Use your Dice and Dot for articulation and glue the dots to the beach balls for something the hang up on your bulletin board or send home to parents!
The Rainbow Fish book is a staple in many speech rooms. I think it’s perfect for an ocean themed unit! The perfect companion is the clownfish ball popper activities for articulation and language goals! You could get a plastic pool from any store and set out articulation and targets in there!
Most people either take a family vacation or have people come visit sometime during the summer. One of my long time favorite books for narratives is The Relatives Came by Cynthia Rylant! It’s a great opportunity to discuss travel, vacations, etc.
I hope these speech therapy plans for June give you some ideas! Let me know below in the comments what your plans are! Make sure to PIN the image above to share with other SLPs so they can get this free download for June!
