I was born and raised in Tennessee, but these days I call Georgia home. I am still a sweet tea and SEC girl through and through, and you will find me cheering Go Vols on Saturdays in the fall. My husband and I are entering a fun new chapter as our boys head off to college, and yes, I’ve added “Hotty Toddy” to my gameday vocabulary!
I LOVE being a speech therapist. I have been an SLP for over 25 years, and my clinical focus is language-based literacy intervention. That specialty didn’t happen overnight. It grew out of years of working across just about every setting you can imagine, from the NICU to nursing homes, and watching how deeply language disorders affect a child’s ability to read and write. Understanding that connection between spoken language and literacy changed everything about how I approach therapy.
My private practice specialized in treating students with language and literacy disorders, and my focus now is on creating clinical resources and professional development for school-based SLPs. My Teachers Pay Teachers store is full of evidence-based, ready-to-use materials designed by a clinician who actually uses them. I also wrote a guidebook for SLPs interested in starting their own private-pay services alongside school-based employment.
