10 Turkeys in the Road by Brenda Reeves Sturgis – A farmer becomes more and more frustrated with ten turkeys who are in the road practicing their circus routines. The turkeys fly away one at a time, but in the end, the clever turkeys get exactly what they were after all along. This is a simple and quick story to use in your speech therapy sessions.

Bear Says Thanks by Karma Wilson – The bear series is one of my absolute favorites, so of course, I included the Thanksgiving story! Bear invites his friends over for a Thanksgiving feast but becomes sad when he has no food to share. Bear then learns that his stories are valued by all of his friends.

  • social/emotional connection

Balloons Over Broadway by Melissa Sweet – I love the Macy’s Day parade? This book tells the story of Tony Sarg, the man who invented the giant parade balloons that became the trademark of the Macy’s Parade. This is a great historical nonfictional book to add to your Thanksgiving book collection.
