What Cinderella Taught Me This Summer

The Frenzied SLPs are excited to announce new discussions, twice a month, designed to help you share your ideas and become #SLPStrong! This week, we are talking about The Best Thing I Learned This Summer! Thank you SLP Runner!

Ahโ€ฆthe Cinderella movie. Did
you see it earlier this summer? I took my 2 boys (they may or may not have
liked it). Who wouldnโ€™t want to
get all fancied up by a fairy Godmother and be pursued by a handsome prince? Moment of silence for how we all dreamed that would happenโ€ฆok.
But, Cinderella did teach me
something. โ€œHave Courage and Be Kind.โ€
Did you catch that? There is something
so simple in that message that you can miss it. For some reason it resonated
with me as I began this summer thinking about starting this very blog. Do I
really have time for a blog? How do I even start or write a blog? Who would
really want to read what I have to say? What do I have to bring to the table
that hasnโ€™t already been written about? What I was really struggling
with was, โ€œDo I really matter?โ€
Have you ever wondered that?
What do I have to contribute?
So, I decided to follow
Cinderellaโ€™s advice, pull up my big-girl britches, and choose to not let my
fears stand in my way.
And what did I find? I found
that I donโ€™t have to know everything up front to get started. I found that itโ€™s
ok to make mistakes- just expect to. Donโ€™t be embarrassed about your mess-ups;
just be REAL with people. Another cool thing, maybe a little surprising, that I
learned is how KIND other bloggers are- they want to help you and they will.  There IS room at the table for me.
So, my summer was, and still
is, a time for learning, having courage, and appreciating how kind people are.
Is there something that has
been holding you back out of fear? If so, think of Cinderella and have courage. Where there is kindness there is goodness. Where there is goodness there is magic.

Welcome to the blogging world! I am still constantly learning new things, and it has been almost three years! I haven't seen the Cinderella movie yet (my boys wouldn't go), but will have to check it out when I have some girl only time!

Awesome! I notice in your bio, "I love Jesus!" Then you also know you matter for your significance comes from Him, but you've taken a risk exposing yourself in social media. If you say one thing that impacts just one person, then you have succeeded. So let's start right here: you have affirmed for me that I am not alone in my fears. Great post!

Thank you Annie! Yes, Jesus is ALL the strength I need. Cinderella reminded me of that. I appreciate having sisters in Christ in the SLP world. Thanks for stopping by my new blog.

I've really struggled with the whole "Do I really matter" question this summer. You're off to a fantastic start! It doesn't matter if something has been discussed/written before…bring your own spin on it!
