This or That: Using How to Catch a Leprechaun and How to Trap a Leprechaun in Speech Therapy – Episode 45

this-or-that-leprechaun-book

Just like with every season or holiday that comes around, there’s a list of picture books related to that theme. While it’s amazing there are so many books to choose from, it can be hard to discern which ones are right for your speech therapy sessions. That’s where we come in! We’re doing another this or that episode to decipher which leprechaun book is the perfect fit to discuss during your speech sessions.

During this episode, we’re sharing our process for selecting books, which we prefer to be complete episodes, engaging, and include a variety of key concepts. We’re discussing the books How to Catch a Leprechaun by Adam Wallace and How to Trap a Leprechaun by Sue Fliess. Even though both books have similar themes, concepts, and key teaching points, one book we find to be clearer, simpler, and more understandable for your language disorder students. We provide reasons and examples why we’d pick one book over the other, which ultimately helps students learn the elements of a story while working on their speech-language goals. So check out our this or that leprechaun book episode to see which book we chose!

Topics Discussed:

  • A brief summary and the key concepts included in each book
  • Why one book is better for your speech therapy session and students
  • Reasons why your students need background knowledge and context to understand one of the books
