There’s still time to incorporate some Halloween-themed books in your speech therapy sessions. It’s a fun way to engage your students where they don’t realize they’re actually working on their speech language goals. But with so many Halloween books, it’s hard to know which ones can serve a variety of your students while also touching on a multitude of concepts. So to help you find the best book, we’re doing another episode of “this or that” with halloween books.

We have a ton of Halloween-themed books in our libraries, and all are super cute and engaging for students. However, not all of them will fit your speech therapy needs. The two books we’re comparing are Little Blue Truck’s Halloween and Room on the Broom. We provide a quick summary and the key concepts of each book, but in the end, there’s only one that we feel can be used with all student levels and dives deeper into the concepts and speech sounds. Make sure to listen to our this or that with Halloween books episode to see which we recommend!

Topics Discussed:

  • A book comparison of the two Halloween-themed books: Little Blue Truck’s Halloween and Room on the Broom
  • We describe our process and thoughts when it comes to selecting books for all ages
  • Brief summary and key concepts each book offers and topics to discuss with your students
  • The importance of considering the format of a book when using with certain ages of students
  • A preview of next week’s episode
