Dive into Kate Messner’s Over and Under Book Series for Speech Therapy – Episode 59
As Speech Language Pathologists we love when we can use a book series with our students during our speech therapy sessions. Book series are typically written with the same theme in mind and structured the same way while also encompassing a variety of speech sounds and key concepts. Therefore, it’s no surprise that we love using Kate Messner’s Over and Under book series. In this episode, we’re sharing why we love this series, a description of each book, and how we’d use it in speech therapy.
Kate Messner’s Over and Under book series offers students an opportunity to work on their speech and language goals. We highlight a few key ideas on why we love this series which include diverse families represented in the illustrations, a variety of different ecosystems, animals, and environments, and a theme of being curious and exploring the world. With those ideas in mind, students are able to learn about these topics through a descriptive sequence, which is more engaging and fun. With our discussion of the six books in the series, you will definitely want to add Kate Messner’s Over and Under book series to your books to use with your students!
