Our Favorite S Sound Picture Books for Speech Therapy: Part 2 – Episode 63
In last week’s episode, we shared some of our favorite /s/ sound picture books, and there are so many more books that we love, so we decided to do another episode with the same topic! However, the slight difference in this episode is that we’re sharing books that have /s/ blends, mixed, or recurring /s/ sound words. This list we’ve created has engaging books with high-frequency /s/ sounds in the content, not just the titles. We’re so excited to share more of our favorite /s/ sound picture books with you!
Although we’ve picked these books because of the amount of /s/ blends in them, they do have excellent language concepts that you can focus on with your kids as well. When discussing each book, we share the summary, age recommendation, key concepts, and the repetition or examples of /s/ sounds and words you can find in the book. This helps you pick out the relevant words so you can focus on them during your speech therapy sessions. We also discuss several themes you could utilize when focusing on /s/ blends, such as snow, squirrels, space, spring, dinosaurs, and so much more. We’ve loved sharing our favorite /s/ sound picture books with you and hope you can add some to your personal library to use with your students!
Topics Discussed:
- A list of our favorite /s/ sound picture books pertaining /s/ blends, mixed, and recurring /s/ sound words
- Each book’s strong language concepts, but why that’s not our main focus for choosing them
- How you can use non-fiction texts to still focus on /s/ blend words even without picture books
